Since opening Johnny Lolita's last year, we've come to know many new people. Of the many that come in and join us for a cup of coffee or a chocolate croissant is our wonderful local artists Sharon "Aggie" Rhine.
Johnny has been dabbling in art for the last couple of years when we retired from staffing. He never thought of himself as someone who could paint and create art. He still doesn't think he is any good....I disagree...and many others do too.
Well, his favorite "new person" he met is Sharon. Sharon has been an established artists for blank years! I'll let Sharon fill in the blank if she chooses to, but I think she'll just leave it at that. Sharon is an artists like no other...someone that can go out in the desert and find a discarded piece of wood and within the grain sees an Indian dressed in his "war bonnet" waiting to pop out of the wood with the help of Sharon's painting magic.
Sharon has created numerous works of art from found objects thrown in the desert. This gal has become an inspiration for Johnny. As he got to know Sharon, he learned how to look at rusty metal, pieces of wood and other scrap items as potential art waiting to come out. With that he has created some new works based on Sharon's style which he has gone to her on several occasions for guidance and of course lots and lots of conversation.
Recently, Johnny decided to create some cool eclectic pieces of art that is hands on and fun pieces to adorn your office desk or home. Johnny said that so much of one's time is spent in an office. Whether you are a "9-5" corporate professional or a stay-at-home mom, you are spending time at a desk for work or monthly bills and accounting at home.
So Johnny created some cool "Office Desk Art" for when you need a paper weight for a stack of bills or paper or when you just need a break from the work and something funky and eclectic to look at.
Well...Sharon was inspired by John's desk art that she went on a hunt and found some great pieces to create her desk art to join in on the fun. Together the two of them have wonderful pieces that make great gifts for anyone and can cause you to smile and possibly a chuckle or two.
When the two of them get together (Johnny & Sharon) no telling what'll happen....but I do know that their spirits are very similar and the joy of conversations with a cup of hot coffee and a chocolate croissant, time is not managed but inspiration of art and life can take days and weeks to sort through. (wink wink smiley face)
We have a few of their Eclectic Desk Art available for sale at the store. Sharon will also be one of the featured artists for our Earth Day Celebration on April 12-13. Stop by....I'm sure Sharon will be at the counter with Johnny scheming on their next project(s).
