Last week, I talked about Cold Brew AND the easiest way to make it at home. We all love the convenience of going somewhere and picking up an Ice Latte/Coffee and of course the hefty price on these "mostly ice" drinks. I enjoy going out and enjoying some wonderful roasted coffee from other great micro roasters out there...however...I do enjoy to make them at home too!
NOW....onto the follow up. Cold Brew served Hot!!! Yup, you read that right. Cold Brew served hot. It truly is delicious AND the coffee you brew hot every day will taste slightly different when you make it via the cold brew process THEN make it hot.
You can use any of your favorite coffee. I prefer starting with whole beans and of course (shameless plug) fresh roasted Johnny Lolita's Coffee (sound the trumpets! wink wink smiley face).
Using the recipe from last week, you have your batch of cold brew concentrate. You are running late in the AM to work and you really want to take a cup of hot java to go. Grab your concentrate and fill have of your cup, mug or 20 oz travel tumbler with half concentrate. Next, boil some water and add the other half of boiling water to your cold brew coffee concentrate. Viola...instant hot coffee that tastes smooth and delicious.
Since I like my coffee "Lawsuit Boiling Hot", I like to heat up my concentrate in the microwave to get the chill off, add to my mug then add boiling water. It truly is wonderful and quick in the mornings when you need to get up and go.
The recipe I gave you for amounts of coffee to water ratio last week works for any coffee out there not just Johnny Lolita's coffee. I do believe in fresh whole beans that you grind when ready to use. You may feel your coffee concentrate is too strong and if so, add a little less concentrate and a little more H2O. That easy....that's it.
I would LOVE to receive any comments on making cold brew at home and if you've tried it hot. Add a comment or drop me a line @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
