I am going to say something that will probably get me banned from the "International Coffee Snob Society". You should drink your coffee the way YOU like it. Period.
Obviously you should be drinking Johnny Lolita's coffee. However, beyond that what right do I or anyone else have to control how you enjoy your coffee.
When we operated our public Coffee House, we saw folks set up their coffee all sorts of ways that would make Coffee Snobs cringe. People requesting multiple shots of flavored syrup. To that they would add packets of sugar and top it off by draining the half & half pitcher into their cup! We would watch them take a sip and proclaim, "thats the best coffee I've ever tasted!" We would hear the same proclamation from people taking their coffee black or with and ice cube, soy milk, etc. We gave them the canvas and they created their master piece.
Drinking coffee is a personal sensory experience. When your Barista forces THEIR interpretation of "proper" coffee on you, it is no longer your personal experience.
Drink your coffee the way you enjoy it and make no apologies! Life is too short to march to the beat of some else drum.
